  2. A synovial bursa, usually simply bursa (pl.: bursae or bursas), is a small fluid-filled sac lined by synovial membrane with an inner capillary layer of viscous synovial fluid (similar in consistency to that of a raw egg white). It provides a cushion between bones and tendons and/or muscles around a joint.

A synovial bursa, usually simply bursa, is a small fluid-filled sac lined by synovial membrane with an inner capillary layer of viscous synovial fluid. It provides a cushion between bones and tendons and/or muscles around a joint. This helps to reduce friction between the bones and allows free movement.

A bursa is a small sac lined by synovial membrane, and filled with synovial fluid. Bursae are located at key points of friction in a joint. They afford joints greater freedom of movement, whilst protecting the articular surfaces from friction-induced degeneration

Bursae are sac-like structures, with an inner synovial membrane, that produces a thin film of synovial fluid. They aid in reducing friction between moving tissues of the body, such as between tendon and bone, ligament and bone, tendons and ligaments, and between muscles. Inflammation of the bursa is known as bursitis.

The bursa of the pelvis is a cystic space in the connective tissue of the pelvic region. It is a closed capsule composed of endothelial cells. The inner wall was synovial with a small amount of synovial fluid. A few are connected to the joint and are located between the apophyses, tendons, muscles, and skin near the joint. Bursa may be present where friction or pressure is high and mainly facilitates sliding, thereby reducing or avoiding friction and compression between the apophysis and soft tissue near the joint. Many joint lesions can cause infectious bursitis in the pelvic region.

What are synovial bursae & tendon sheaths?Synovial bursae, tendon sheaths, and joints have a similar function and generally similar structure. All are sacs containing synovial fluid produced by the lining of the sac.
Is the synovial membrane continuous with the lining of adjacent bursae? In some large synovial joint capsules, such as that of the knee, the synovial membrane may be continuous with the synovial lining of adjacent bursae. In addition, closed sacs of synovial membrane may also be found outside joint capsules.
